Things I liked about this game
-It was opening day, what’s not to like?
-A-Rod driving in Abreu in his first PA.
-Wang pitching his way out of some jams. Didn’t look like he was shaken, or unsure of himself at all.
-G-fucking-ambi! making a leaping catch on a line drive to save a double, then busting up a double play by shucking and jiving his way past Aaron Hill.
-All 3 shots of Melky.
-Joba and Mo doing their Joba and Mo thing.
-Halladay yelling, “This FUCKING Ballpark!” after Melky’s cheap shot home run. That was priceless.
Things I didn’t like about this game
-The fact that they wasted Damon’s lead off triple. In particular, this ticked me off, because I was using Damon’s lead off triple to explain run expectancy to my fiance’.
-All this talk about how Cano is the second best hitter on the team after A-Rod. Now, I love Robbie, and I agree that when it’s all said and done, maybe he will be a better hitter than everyone on the team but A-Rod…..mayyyyybe. The fact of the matter is that Jeter, Matsui, and Posada all had higher OPS+ last season that Robbie. So let’s chill out already.
I’m not hatin on Robbie, I’m just urging caution and patience.
Anyway, great win, fun game, nice reaction shot from Halladay. 94 to go.
